perhaps this post will suit more for the nana incident topic, but it's still a happy one lah. went east ocean for lunch. after finished our food, waiter walked up and asked in mand, "may i know how many candles do you want on the cake?" colleagues and i exchanged looks among ourselves then laughed out. then the waiter said, "looking at the situation, i think it should be one." then he walked back to kitchen. we laughed even louder. waiter walked back with the cake and asked, "who is the birthday girl?" i gigglishly raised my hand. he then put the cake with an unlighted candle in front of me, then rotated the cake so that the "happy birthday" tag was facing me. then he said, "ok now it's time to make a wish." yah right, the candle not even lighted and birthday song also not yet sing. he has never celebrated his birthday before or what??? we were "arm chio-ing" throughout until we heard someone started singing "happy birthday..." it was a few uncles and aunties sitting at a big table behind us. okay, we thought they were just having fun and would stop after one line. but no wor! they sang finish whole song and still clapped(heng not very loudly)! so paisei!!! ironically, our table is silent one the waiter finally came back with a lighter for the candle. then my colleagues felt they should at least sing in mandarin again if not very "sia suay". moral of the story is, if you want to bring your friends to east ocean for meal during their birthday, please find elsewhere to do the cake thing... because i think east ocean waiters lack experience in this.

lunch with colleagues. a senior designer on my left asked me if i have finished my reservist. taken aback, i said "you mean NS." "no, reservist," he replied, nary a shred of humor in his voice. the expression on my face made a colleague burst out laughing. it feels good to make people laugh

i have food to eat today, unlike the starving children in africa! unlike the poor thing civillians in world war two! and i have a roof over my head, i dont have to brave the tulmultous weathers like the homeless in siberia! oh look! i have running water in my house, simply by turning on my tap! wow!
and all these because we have a great ruling government! i am so happy! arent you?

from my friend's blog -
i am so happy that the singaporean government acknowledges my existence as a gay man, even though in the eyes of the law it is illegal for me to have sex! i am also speechless with gratefulness that the government allows me to contribute to the nation's economy, nevermind that i am denied any shred of gay rights! three cheers to the government!

haha was considerably cheered up by azzie's "got men" email after a shouting match with my ma over our differing political beliefs.
it's really nice when someone's little gesture brighten your day, or when yours brighten someone else's.

was at the worker's party rally at serangoon stadium on fri night. the crowd was incredible and overwhelming, both in terms of quantity and morale. at one point, me and my friend spotted someone holding a "WE HEART SYLVIA" sign. hahaha so cute!!! tonight, i just realised that the person who made it is local poet/writer alfian sa'at! www.blurty.com/talkread.bml?journal=sleepless77&itemid=137355me to warren: the time now is 2046 hrs. we will shortly see our future for the next 5 years....
